In 2005 The Stoner arose as something of a sensation with their debut album “Upp till kamp”. The press labelled them “a new branch on the Swedish jazz tree”. With their focus firmly forwards, yet with full control of what is behind, they play dynamic power jazz with an unreserved, near blue eyed, emotional romantic approach. The Stoner front figure Nils Berg writes the quartet's material that refers more to alternative pop music and film soundtracks than to traditional jazz.

The Schönning Group has dedicated itself to a persistent breaking with styles since 2002. Nowadays the group is a quartet and the theme of the year is Nina Simone's recording of the old Donaldsons and Kahn's classic "Love Me or Leave Me."
- We believe there to be many notes and tones we yet haven't played. Thus we will continue to swing between the frailest folktronica, the sweetest lullabys and the basest jazz. We believe it to be good for you. |
